The LabSiN – Numerical Simulation Laboratory – began its activities in 2011 at the School of Engineering of the Federal University of Rio Grande (FURG). The laboratory's main focus is the numerical approach to engineering problems, especially those related to fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and renewable energies.

The LabSiN research group have worked with the undergraduate courses in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Naval Mechanical Engineering, Coastal and Port Civil Engineering, Business Mechanical Engineering, and Business Civil Engineering. Regarding graduated courses, the group has worked with the Computational Modeling Program (PPGMC) and the Ocean Engineering Program (PPGEO).

The research group has approved projected with Brasilian funding agencies and companies, resulting in resources for the physical maintenance of the laboratory, scholarships, and internships for undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students.
